What to do at Union Creek Resort
Outdoor Activities Start at Union Creek Resort.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more perfect Southern Oregon location for so many unforgettable outdoor activities than Union Creek Resort – which was a favorite of adventurist and author Zane Grey. We’re ideally located within the Rogue River National Forest, right between Union Creek and the Wild & Scenic Rogue River, amongst hiking trails, waterfalls, and just minutes from mountain lakes and Crater Lake National Park – Oregon only National Park. Open for year-round fun, Union Creek Resort is your warm and cozy basecamp for Southern Oregon’s incredible outdoor activities, whether you’re seeking quiet serenity, excitement and thrills, family-friendly activities, or something in between.
Scenic Hiking Trails
In the heart of Southern Oregon, Union Creek is surrounded by scenic trails set in old growth forests. It’s the perfect setting for hiking, cross country skiing, or snowshoeing, as well as trails specific for mountain bikes, motorcycles, quads, and snowmobiling. Union Creek Spur Trail and Union Creek Trail lead directly from the Resort and meander along Union Creek, the Rogue River Gorge, Natural Bridge, and even meet up with the Pacific Crest Trail. Along the way you’ll find a variety of types and sizes of beautiful waterfalls, swimming holes, wild birds and other wildlife, and quiet spots for picnics.
Mountaineers can also find adventure.
At nearby Mt. Thielsen (9,182 feet) or Mt. Bailey (8,375 feet) near Diamond Lake. Mt. Bailey also offers cat skiing during the winter months.
For fishermen, Union Creek Resort boasts countless fishing holes on the Rogue River and our own Union Creek, a 15-mile tributary of the Rogue. Both are open for fishing year-round and stocked by Oregon Fish & Wildlife. Fishermen from throughout the region regularly visit and take home prized salmon and steelhead, as well as rainbow trout, brook trout, cutthroat trout, and German brown trout. Hunters also have access to several wilderness areas within our woods for hunting for deer, elk, and bear in season.
Winter Sports enthusiasts
Crater Lake is renowned as a perfect location for cross country skiing and snowshoeing with stunning “postcard” views of the lake. Our own trails are also great for cross country skiing and snowshoeing, along with snowmobiling. And there’s excellent Southern Oregon sledding to be had at a developed snow park just 1/4 mile away.
